A document from 1561 attests the existence of an organ in the
fifteenth century church. The organ was moved to the Church Our
Lady of Defence when the new organ was acquired (1703).
At the time m.o Francesco Kecht, an organ-maker from Bressanone,
built a new organ for the parish church. In 1774 the instrument
was disassembled because the new, larger parish church was being
built. The organ turned out to be too small for it.
Hence, the inhabitants of Cortina d’Ampezzo turned to
the Venetian school of Gaetano Callido (1727-1813), which built
a new organ with 18 registers, situated in the church’s
conch in April 1777 thanks to the excellent job of the wood merchant
Bolis.
